When getting solar panels installed by Heatable, am I protected?
Yes - in more ways than one. The installation itself will come with a 2 year, insurance-backed warranty by HIES. In the event of an issue, simply get in touch with Heatable, and it'll be rectified. Plus, your deposit will also be protected. What's more, our exclusive REA Fusion2 solar panels come with a 25 year warranty which is insurance-backed by Munich RE. They'll warranty the product itself for that period, and also the performance levels too.
When installing solar panels with MakeMyHouseGreen, am I protected?
Yes! Every installation comes with a 2-year workmanship guarantee. If something isn’t right, we’ll come along and fix it for you at no charge. Our panels have 25-year performance warranties, so you’ll have peace of mind that they’ll keep working their best for decades to come. The batteries and inverters that we offer also come with 10-15 year warranties.
How does MakeMyHouseGreen’s solar calculator work?
MakeMyHouseGreen’s advanced solar calculator uses thousands of data points, including your location, roof orientation, and weather data, to calculate how much energy your solar panels would produce. You’ll also find out how much you’ll save on energy bills each year and how much your chosen system will cost, with estimates that are over 96% accurate.
How much could solar reduce my bills by?
This depends on many factors, like your energy usage/demand, the size system which we can install on your roof, and whether or not you opt to add battery storage. In many cases, solar PV can wipe out your entire energy bill, which is insane. Plus, any excess energy which you generate can either be stored, or sold back to the grid for a profit.
Do solar panels only work on sunny days?
No, that's a myth. Solar panels will work, even in low-light conditions. With Heatable's AC system, your panels have a bigger operating window where they can generate energy (they start up earlier, and shut down later). Standard, DC systems do tend to struggle in low-light, as the inverters require more energy to even get started.
Can I still claim the feed-in-tariff (FIT) with solar?
No, the feed-in-tariff has now ended. It has been replaced with something similar called SEG (smart export guarantee). This means, when set up, you'll get paid for energy which you sell back to the grid.
How long will my solar panel installation take?
As you'd expect, it varies on the size and scale of the solar system which you're planning to install on your home. A standard home solar panel installation (without battery storage) typically takes 1 day to complete. A standard home solar panel installation with battery storage typically takes 1-2 days to complete.
Are scaffolding costs included in my online quote?
No, scaffolding costs are not included in the online quote. If you wish to enquire further about a package, check with Heatable to confirm the access requirements and finalise the price including the type of scaffolding which you need. Scaffolding typically costs around £500-£750.
What's the process of quoting and finalising my system?
First, you'll get a quote online using Heatable's 3D mapping tool. This will tell you how many panels can fit on your roof, and show you some estimated savings. Then, if you wish to enquire further, they'll complete a full MCS design of your system, showing panel placements and nailing down your savings.
Do you need planning permission for solar panels?
No, in most cases you do not require planning permission for a solar panel installation as they fall under permitted development laws. If you live in a listed building, or conservation area, you'll need approval from your council.
Who'll be installing my panels if I go ahead?
One of Heatable's approved installation partners, that's who. Heatable supports, trains and works with a vast network of expert installers. They'll look after your home, and hold your hand from the start of your solar journey, right until the end. All solar installers are insured, vetted and carry the necessary qualifications to get the job done - right.
